Student Membership InformationThe Academy acts as a bridge between individuals, educators and businesses. Through our knowledge of and contacts with the industry we help those looking to establish or develop a career in motorsport at every step:
Making learning relevantA major challenge for both students and academics is the ability to remain up to date with the latest developments in technology, and the latest needs of industry, particularly where skills shortages offer careers and learning opportunities. The Motorsport Academy encourages industry and educators to work together to ensure that the courses they offer prepare learners with the skills needed by employers: Web-based education and training portalThis contains details of the latest education and training programmes, covering the full offering of postgraduate, undergraduate, vocational, technician, work-based learning, management and volunteer programmes. Learners can review the full offering of motorsport based courses in the UK and choose the one that is right for them, while the Motorsport Academy can also help sign-post learners to education and training programmes. Recognition scheme for educators and trainersThe Motorsport Academy will introduce and operate a recognition scheme that will promote the achievements of institutions and organisations that are successfully working to develop students with the skills, knowledge and approach that are valued by employers. ApprenticeshipsThe Motorsport Academy will launch a number of programmes to enable learners to combine on-the-job training with gaining an NVQ qualification. These apprenticeships will follow a nationally-recognised programme to deliver the appropriate skills and flexibility required by learners and their employers, while combining training with work. Our aim is to make staff even more effective for their employers from their first day of work. Learning grounded in practiceThe Academy helps motorsport businesses find and nurture the talent that represents the lifeblood of success. We work closely with industry and educators to ensure that students can find relevant experience in and from industry: Work placementsThrough our contacts with industry we can help motorsport and engineering students gain valuable insight and practical experience through work placements. In doing so, we seek to match student and business so that both benefit. Teaching aids programmeThere is no better way of learning than getting exposed to the ‘real thing’. You will be able to tell from our website which universities, colleges and training organisations are involved in our teaching aids programme - providing educators with the latest technology from industry. Finding jobsLearning is a means to an end and students want to know that when they have finished their course they can turn what they have learned into a rewarding career. The Motorsport Academy can help students with finding job opportunities: The Motorsport Academy Jobs BoardThis website lets individuals search an online directory of live job vacancies and upload their own CV. Online help and factsheets are also available to candidates. CV builderThe website also has a CV builder that gives advice on how to create and develop an effective CV, crucial to making the right first impression. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs)KTPs offer graduates the chance of pursuing innovative research programmes within a business environment. The Motorsport Academy provides a signposting service to help graduates ally with KTP operators, usually universities, to help companies seeking to employ appropriate talent to undertake research or business solutions-based projects. |
