Job Description

This position utilizes fabrication skills to build and work on custom parts, components, and equipment. Tools typically utilized are sheers, saws, manual punches, bead roller, belt sander, air grinder, tubing bender, milling machine, torches, lathe, drills, and brakes. The successful individual is responsible for learning various areas of car components and improving fabrication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Make and use patterns and templates to trace out shapes and cut out parts.
  • Cut sheet metal, metal plate, and tubing to proper lengths, shapes, and sizes for precision fit.
  • MIG/TIG weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions using various metals including aluminum, steel, stainless steel or titanium
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and/or bolt component parts required for welding.
  • Assemble and/or attach parts and pieces using rivets and various fasteners.
  • Preheat work pieces prior to welding or bending, using torches or necessary tools.
  • Machine basic parts on mill and lathe.
  • Must safely operate machinery and/or equipment according to recommended safety specifications, including use of all necessary protective equipment, while identifying any safety hazards and reporting all risks immediately to a supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean and always organized.
  • Provide assistance to other team members on other duties as appropriate.
  • Other duties & special projects will be added as assigned

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of fabricating experience required.
  • MIG and TIG welding experience required.
  • Previous experience using fabricating machines such as brake, shear, band saw, iron worker, tubing bender, tubing notcher, grinders and welders required.
  • Working knowledge of all mechanical components and structural framework of race cars required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of all NASCAR specifications required.
  • Basic computer skills preferred to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using digital measuring device such as a Faro/Romer arms.
