Data and Systems Engineer - Grove Racing
Penrite Racing/Grove RacingGrove Racing is seeking a workshop-based Data & Systems Engineer to support our engineering team across the preparation, configuration and management of our race engineering systems.
This is a hands-on technical role focused on ensuring our data, electronics, communications and engineering systems are correctly configured, tested and ready for use.
Our engineering team will determine the technical requirements and direction, with this role responsible for executing those requirements accurately and consistently.
The Role
Working closely with our engineering team, responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and maintaining MoTeC i2 projects, workspaces, maths and configurations
- Preparing and configuring VBOX systems and equipment
- Managing software, firmware and configuration versions across engineering systems
- Programming and configuring team radios and communications equipment
- Programming, configuring and conditioning sensors and electronic components
- Bench testing sensors, electronics and other components prior to installation
- Maintaining calibration records and configuration information
- Preparing and configuring data acquisition and logging equipment
- Managing engineering laptops, software installations and system configurations
- Downloading, organising and managing vehicle and test data
- Assisting with CAN, telemetry and other vehicle data systems
- Electrical and electronic fault finding
- Producing 3D CAD models and technical drawings using Autodesk Inventor
- Managing engineering drawings, models and revision control through Autodesk Vault
- Operating 3D printers where required for prototypes and engineering parts
- Inspecting and testing components against engineering requirements
- Maintaining technical documentation and configuration records
- Preparing systems and equipment for race events, testing and workshop use
- Supporting engineers with general technical and systems-based tasks
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have practical experience or a strong technical understanding across several of the following:
- MoTeC i2
- VBOX systems
- Motorsport or automotive data acquisition
- Sensors and instrumentation
- Radio and communications systems
- Electronics and electrical testing
- CAN systems and vehicle networks
- Autodesk Inventor and Vault
- 3D modelling and technical drawing
- 3D printing
- Computer hardware, software and networking
- Configuration and version management
Experience with automotive electrical wiring, wiring looms, connectors and associated fault finding would be highly advantageous.
Previous motorsport experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
This position could suit someone from motorsport, automotive electronics, mechatronics, instrumentation, electronics, Formula Student or another technical environment who wants to build a career within professional motorsport.
