About the role

MPW Performance and Race Fab is seeking a skilled Mechanic/Performance Technician to join our dynamic team in Keysborough, VIC. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to work on high-performance vehicles and race-prepared machinery in a fast-paced, specialised automotive environment. You will be at the heart of our operations, delivering exceptional technical expertise and craftsmanship to ensure every vehicle that leaves our facility meets our exacting standards. This role is integral to maintaining our reputation for excellence in performance automotive work.

Key responsibilities

  1. Diagnose, repair and maintain high-performance vehicles and race-prepared engines, utilising advanced diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge
  2. Perform comprehensive mechanical inspections and identify issues affecting vehicle performance, safety and reliability
  3. Conduct routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks and component replacements to manufacturer and customer specifications
  4. Assemble, rebuild and modify performance engines and transmission systems, ensuring precision and attention to detail
  5. Test and tune vehicles to optimise performance, including dyno testing and on-track validation where applicable
  6. Fabricate, install and repair custom performance components and modifications
  7. Maintain accurate records of all work performed, parts used and labour hours for billing and warranty purposes
  8. Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and maintain a safe, organised workshop environment
  9. Communicate effectively with customers regarding vehicle condition, recommended repairs and progress updates
  10. Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies at all times

What we're looking for

  1. Trade qualification or recognised apprenticeship in automotive mechanics or a related discipline
  2. Proven experience working on performance vehicles, race engines or modified automobiles
  3. Strong proficiency with mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment and workshop machinery
  4. Solid understanding of engine management systems, fuel injection, turbocharging and other performance modifications
  5. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work to tight tolerances and high quality standards
  6. Valid driver's licence and willingness to test drive vehicles as required
  7. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  8. Effective communication skills and customer service orientation
  9. Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  10. Experience with dyno testing, custom fabrication or motorsport preparation is highly desirable
