About the Role:
PremiAir Racing are seeking an experienced Fabricator with composite repair knowledge to join our motorsport workshop. This role is ideal for someone with strong fabrication skills who is also confident carrying out composite repairs and working with carbon fibre components.
Working alongside our engineering and race team, you will be responsible for manufacturing bespoke components for both the cars and the supporting pit equipment, repairing damaged race car structures and bodywork, and supporting the preparation and maintenance of our Race and Heritage Cars.
No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of race cars and projects in a fast-paced, professional environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate custom components, brackets, chassis modifications, and assemblies from aluminium, steel, and other lightweight materials. Perform high-quality TIG and MIG welding. Repair and restore carbon fibre, fibreglass, and other composite components. Carry out trimming, bonding, finishing, and cosmetic repairs to composite parts. Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. Assist with race car builds, repairs, and workshop projects.
Ensure all work meets the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and safety. Work collaboratively with engineers, mechanics, and technicians to meet project deadlines.
Skills & Experience Essential:
Proven experience as a fabricator in automotive, motorsport, aerospace, or a similar industry. Strong TIG welding skills (aluminium and stainless steel preferred). Experience using fabrication equipment including guillotines, folders, rollers, saws, and hand tools. Knowledge of composite repair techniques, including carbon fibre and fibreglass. Ability to work from technical drawings with minimal supervision. Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.
Desirable:
Previous motorsport experience. Experience with race car fabrication or chassis construction. Familiarity with composite lay-up and manufacturing processes. CAD or CNC machining experience. Motorsport Australia competition vehicle experience.
